Bequests & Gifts In Wills
How to leave a bequest in your Will
If you want to leave a gift to Epilepsy Queensland in your Will, you can do so without any financial implications during your lifetime. Leaving a bequest in your Will is relatively straightforward. You’ll need to choose the type of bequest and make sure to outline it in your Will using the proper format.
If you’re leaving an inheritance for your family, it may be easier to leave a specific bequest for Epilepsy Queensland as your chosen charity. Whichever option you choose, you’ll have to decide how to divide your assets between your loved ones and your chosen charity or charities. You should make your bequest formal when writing your Will and inform the executor of your Will or your next of kin of your wish.
When including a bequest in your Will, there are two types of gifts you can leave: either a percentage of the entire estate or an amount of money or specific assets. These assets can include money, property, shares, stocks, personal heirlooms, works of art, and more.
Why should I leave Epilepsy Queensland a gift in my Will?
Epilepsy Queensland is championing the cause of people with epilepsy and acknowledges their right to live in an equal and unstigmatised world.
A large part of the program of work we undertake is centered around education and training, starting in schools and going right through every life stage to support those living with epilepsy, their families, friends, and carers.
We will spend this money where it’s most needed, and we will always be transparent as to where the money goes. However, if you wish to support a particular area of work such as salary contributions for service staff or educators, or resources for people to complete their epilepsy management plans, or to pay for us to conduct research, you can do that too.
We are keen wherever possible to receive untied funding as we can then channel it to where it’s needed most but of course, in the end, it is your call.
You really can change lives and create a legacy for you and your family if you support us in this way, and we are thankful that you might consider doing so as a way of showing support into the future. It’s such a practical and meaningful way to help tackle the challenges that epilepsy brings to many people and to make our society a more inclusive one – for those who are looking to live their best lives on a daily basis.
