Our Reason for Being
Around 30,000 Queenslanders have an epilepsy diagnosis - the most common chronic brain disease and a condition that affects people of all ages and demographics.
Despite its prevalence, people with epilepsy talk to us about isolation, exclusion and discrimination - experiences caused by the realities of a challenging, multi-faceted condition that the general population simply doesn’t understand.
With the right treatment and support, up to 70% of people living with epilepsy could become seizure free. But for many living with the condition in the here and now, anxiety, depression and memory loss, challenges with education and employment and problematic medication side-effects are the ‘norm’.
