First aid

One in ten people will have a seizure during their lifetime. This is regardless of whether they have an epilepsy diagnosis, so knowledge of how to help someone experiencing a seizure is important.

Most types of seizures can be classified into two main groups, generalised seizures and focal seizures. Regardless of the type of seizure, first aid will be required.

As everyone’s epilepsy is different, we recommend an individual epilepsy management plan on how to best manage the person’s epilepsy and seizures.
