Tips and Hints!
So you want to get a bit of a head-start? Find out what works and what doesn't and see a whole heap of creative ideas for what your site could contain this year? Well you found the right place. Seven quick tips to give your entry a heads up on the competition: 1.) Manage your content- make sure your site content and information is relevant, well written and well structured. By ensuring you manage and categorise all your information appropriately, you make your site easier to navigate. 2.) Always eye catching- the way an entry looks can help it stand out from the rest. Combined with well managed information, a design with images and colours which are eye catching can be an explosive combination. The look of the site can be just as important to the information when it comes to standing out from the crowd. 3.)Brand your site- give your site a label. Let judges know that this isn't just a competition entry- it's an actual website with a name and branding. Think of a funky name for the site and build it into your design. An example of this was last year's entry named "EpiQteen". 4.) Always make sure you follow the guidelines- it seems obvious, but everyone should ensure they follow the Competition Guidelines. The last thing you want is for your entry to be marked down just because you didn't double check! 5.) Creation and Innovation! Create something new. Think outside the square. As long as it complies with the guidelines try to think of something no one has done before. Innovative ideas like the forum, gallery and game integrated into last years winning entry. 6.) Go that extra step- when you come up with a great idea and integrate it into your site, tell the viewer/ judges about it! let them know that you have this new idea on your homepage spiel of your website or write a user manual for the website or letter to the viewer outlining the cool new innovative things you have. Don't be afraid to show off the ideas you've put into the site and why it is so great- flaunt it! 7.) Have fun- if you have fun and enjoy doing the competition you will produce the best work you possibly can. Be enthusiastic! At the end of the day enjoying the experience is all that matters! Best of luck to all entries into this year's website competition.
