What do I have to do?

In 2006, high school students of all ages are being issued the challenge of designing a website with the theme ‘Bring epilepsy out of the shadows’.

When submitting their entry, students are to indicate the target audience for whom this website has been designed:
1) 6-10 years 2) 11-13 years 3) 14 years onwards

Using a variety of media (i.e. games, puzzles, stories, poetry, artwork, pictures, creative messages) the website should cover particular topics:

  • What is epilepsy? (Compulsory topic for all entries)

And any 3 or more of the following topics:

  • How does someone acquire epilepsy?
  • What challenges do people with epilepsy face?
  • How epilepsy may affect the way people feel about themselves?
  • How seizures and fear of seizures may affect other people’s responses towards someone with epilepsy?
  • How to be a good friend to someone who has epilepsy?
  • What impact epilepsy may have on someone’s life and career aspirations?
  • How can the community become a more supportive place for people who have epilepsy?
  • How high school students can get involved with Epilepsy Queensland?

Making it clear, not living in fear

A completed entry should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the selected epilepsy topics, AND be effective in communicating these issues to the relevant agegroup(s).
